Two sentences can change a whole day

Sometimes a comment can help your day a lot.  I got such a comment on this blog yesterday.  Now it wasn’t the solution to the problems I may face or even something that many may even think of as a big deal.  To me that just means many of us have lost something.  We all hope for things and pray for things, and many times those are for answers to our needs and questions, or strength to make it through a rough period of life.  We pray in church for those in need, but do we ever really stop to put a real face on it?

What the commenter did was say how they wished they could be there to give me the strength I am looking for as I try to move forward, and find solutions to everything in my life that is going on.  He also said that he prayed for me.  That touched me in a way that meant a lot.  We all get so busy with our day to day troubles, and our own concerns, it’s not often that we truly really stop to think about how two sentences can impact a person’s whole day.

So why did that have such an impact?  I believe that sometimes a kind word at the right time can make all the difference in a person’s emotions.  Yesterday was a rough day.  It was busy at work, things were tense at home, and I was feeling overall pretty bad about myself.  So I get home and decide to check my email.  I see that a comment was posted on my blog, and I check it out.  Here was a person I have never met face to face, telling me how they feel for me and wish they could be there to give me the strength I needed, and that I am in their prayers.

It made me realize that in the world of today, where so many of us are struggling with our own problems, concerns, and needs that we often forget about how other people are struggling much the same as we are.  It reminded me that all things are temporary, and that better days will come.

So to Dr. John, thanks.
