The Nursery and the Lights

Nov-30-2007 By Family Man

Happy Friday! Another week ready to bite the dust. And what a busy week it has been. So with another week down, comes another weekend, and lots for me to do around the house. My wife is spending her day off today beginning the transition of turning what has been my home office into a nursery. First was that she wasn’t even sure what she wanted to do as a nursery theme, and secondly, since we were not sure what our housing plans were we had decided to hold off on anything until we knew. Now that we are sure that we will be staying put for the next 19 months we have decided to go ahead with the nursery. She decided on a theme from ColCaLo called Turtle Bay. Here is a picture of what our little boy’s nursery will look like:

Needless to say my wife is now getting into the whole “nesting” phase. The plan is to make the walls the same, waves and all. And I continue to get in trouble, for many things, of which I have yet to understand. She also decided she DID want to tour the facility where the baby will be born. I just go with the flow, as I know that her current state is 50% my fault :).

To me it’s fairly scary to realize we have only 12 weeks (give or take) until the arrival of the baby.

Knowing that this weekend would be one of me “re-locating” my home office to some other corner of the house I spent some time last weekend doing the lights on the house. Both boys are fascinated by active light shows so I figured I would give it a whirl this year. So I did. Now most of the time the lights are on steady, but with the click of a mouse, the show begins. So enjoy my house show of Christmas lights!

Another Day here and there!

Nov-29-2007 By Family Man

It’s hard to believe it’s already Thursday, and the last week in November. December begins Saturday, and all of the holiday ad’s are in full swing. As you may or may not have noticed, I have decided on a custom domain name. You can now find this blog at www.AnotherDayOfLife.com. It took me while to make this move, I had been contemplating it for quite a while. Hopefully it will give me some additional exposure, as well as be a learning experience as I continue my quest to make 80K over the next 18 months. I still may ultimately move to a word press self-hosted blog, but I haven’t yet made any final decisions.

This leads me to my second update. We will be staying in our home for at least another 18 months. When we did the research and worked it all out, we realized we would not be able to find anything with the space for 5 of us and the pets for what we are paying now. So actually that works out well as I have a year to reduce what I love to call the “Stuff” factor. And get us a bit leaner. EBay, here I come!

I spent last weekend at home, as opposed to shopping. What that meant was I got to spend my time on the roof, putting up the lights. Of course I spent quite a bit of time checking bulbs as half would light and half wouldn’t. But after a few hours I am happy to say it all worked out, and we are lit for the holiday season. Other than that we put up the tree and watched the The Santa Clause 3. Of course the kids needed Hot Chocolate. I think wit some finagling we will make it through the end of 2007. And with 2008 a new and strong goal to raise the money we need to retire our debt forever.

I am leaving you today with a hysterical video. It’s called “The Evolution of Dance”. Enjoy!

Back to Reality

Nov-26-2007 By Family Man

It’s back to work after 5 days off for the holiday. I hope everyone had a good holiday, and are now setting their sights on proceeding through the remainder of the Holiday Season. We here in my household are about ready to begin the arduous task of shopping for Christmas. This year is especially difficult, as we really have about nothing to spend. My wife and I agreed on one present each (I need sneakers). For the kids we cut the speeding allowance in about 1/3 from last year. They’ll still get many things, just not big ticket items, or a lot of junk.

My wife is steadily working hard at her new job, and the baby is now in the active kicking phase. We have about 11 weeks left until we are an official family of five. I am excited and scared all at the same time.

Hopefully we will know tomorrow if we are moving next spring, or if we will be staying put one more year.

That’s all the news for today; see you later in the week.

Thanks Giving, and Thanks

Nov-22-2007 By Family Man

Today is Thanksgiving for those of us in the US. It is a day in which we stop to be thankful for what we have, and hopefully forget about what we don’t have for a day. So I wanted to mention a few thoughts before we all go stuff ourselves with Turkey and all the fixin’s.

I may have lots of debt, and may not be exactly where I hoped I would be by this point in my life. But I am Thankful. I have a wonderful wife, 2.6 sons, (we only have 11 weeks left until it’s a full 3!) and wonderful family, and yes I will even include the in-laws today, a good job, and good health. No matter what else, that is what matters most to me in this world, and I am thankful for it.

So as you in the US, or even if you live somewhere where today is any other day, stop for a minute, and think about all you do have in your life. We can either make the world better, or worse. It’s up to us to forge a future, so I hope as we all stop to think about what we are Thankful for, we can strive to make it a good future.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Down and Pounded

Nov-20-2007 By Family Man

I have been a bit under the weather latley. It started out with what seemed to be a cold, and finally decided that since I hadn’t had any type of need for the doctor or medication, that it should turn into a full-fledged sinus infection. At least that way I didn’t have the opportunity to feel left out over being the only one in the house that hadn’t had to visit a doctor for antibiotics. I am however feeling much better, though I do hate having a stuffy nose.

Today is my last workday until Monday. I will hopefully get the time over the next 5 days to review much of my other web endeavors and spend time working on that avenue. Work has been hectic as well, so I am looking forward to the break.

I will be back tomorrow with my Thanksgiving Tribute!
