Fathers Day Friday

Well, it’s Friday, and another post meeting day. We met again with the School on Friday, and have another meeting coming on Tuesday. We are redoing the entire Extended School year plan, due to a procedural error on the schools part. So we are up for another round. One of the positives we had was we met with the person that will be working with Jon, and we think they will probably work real well together.
One the downside though, over the last two weeks we have had some serious backslide in his anxiety over school. Much of it due to the Special Ed teacher he currently has in school. They tend to treat much of his issues as “oppositional behavior”, where his psychologist tries to explain it’s not what they are dealing with, but an inability to function at a high level of anxiety. So hopefully not causing much fallout, my wife and I are requesting a new Special Ed teacher for the next school year. Now don’t get me wrong, I think the teacher is excellent, but I don’t think their personalities fit at all, and the assistant in that room, has said things to him that have caused many periods of crying.
My wife has decided to go back to work over the summer, by working nights. Like a 7 to 12 job, or something along those lines. She had worked for the airlines for many years, and is thinking of going back to that. She can work nights, when I am home, and it will help to get us back on our feet, a little bit. So otherwise she’ll probably do something else that she can do nights for a while.
I finally have the Community Center back on line. I have written a few reviews of products and things that I have found useful, and hopefully some more success. I will say the Average Joe Income Package has netted me back about $90.00 so far, so I have made back the $47 I paid for it. I made $43.00 based on some of his tutorials giving me a 52% ROI.
I will be partnering with some folks on the Community Center, that are much more successful that I have been to date, and they are going to help with content for the monthly members newsletter. Membership is free as well. If you get a chance check it out. Comments and suggestions are warmly welcomed.
Now this weekend is of course Father’s Day. I don’t really know or expect that I will really get much, but that’s fine with me. There are so many other things going on right now, that it’s not really very important that I be given a gift of some type. As for my own father, I wrote him a letter, explaining that no matter what else I am who I am today partially because of him. I am still not accustomed to the whole Father’s day thing, but fatherhood itself can be very rewarding.
So Happy Fathers day to all you Dad’s. And know that you are appreciated, and loved by your kids. And that’s more important than everything else.

Stumbled upon your blog and read with interest your situation with Jon at school. As an educator, I felt compelled to give you something to think about. Being a special education teacher is a very tough job, both because of the students’special needs and because often the parents of the kids, having good intentions, tend to be very critical of the work they do. As a result, many special ed teachers burn out quickly. Often, they are hard to come by for this reason, and it may not be possible to select your son’s teacher. Of course, as in any job, not everyone is suited for it. It is also important for all kids to be exposed to different types of teachers, just like as adults we are exposed to different types of people every day. It helps our kids lead a less sheltered life. Not being critical, just presenting a different viewpoint.
Glad to hear your wife might be able to get a job. Maybe she could work for the school district as an assistant special ed teacher in another class.
Happy father’s day, and good luck with your web endeavors!

Thank you so much for your comment. And I appreciate your viewpoint. I in fact ended up making a whole post out of my response. http://buildtomorrow.blogspot.com/2007/06/thank-you.html
