Youre in your car, listening to a story on your local NPR station. Suddenly, you find yourself at your destination; home, work, or parking lot of the grocery store.
The story has captured you, and rather than turn the radio off, you stay in your car and listen to the end. You’ve had a Driveway Moment!
Memories of fathers often include bountiful advice, long talks, and perhaps a few unpleasant moments. NPR mined archives for 21 stories that capture the essence of fatherhood.
Some are comforting, others are bittersweet, and many more fall somewhere in between. This compilation is sure to keep you in your car listening to the end in a Driveway Moment.
I was fortunate enough to hear this series, and it really hit home. It made me feel how important my role as a father truly is, and how much influence I truly have as a role model in my children’s lives.
Being a father is a special role, so different than anything else in the world.
Some of these stories made me laugh out loud, so the stories live up to their claims!

Hmm, I’m not a dad …
I often have driveway moments. Sometimes it is music, but more often it is whatever the NPR topic of the moment is.
