If you haven’t seen the new phenomena, you probably will. It’s called the disappearance of the PF bloggers. Another Day of Life is no exception. While you don’t get a message saying, whoops sorry I am gone, like at MyDebtBlog, and now the latest MyCrazydebt.com, you do see that I haven’t really posted much of anything since February 27th.
So why are so many personal finance blogs being lost in the shuffle, and basically found on the Internet as either shut down, or lost in the vast ocean with zero postings. Well truthfully I don’t know but I have a few ideas.
First of all I think as the economy gets down to the lowest point it can people are finally loosing the hope they had about debt reduction at one point. I know the path I am on now has little to do with debt reduction, but true survival. So it can be very hard to be the optimistic blogger, when it seems that things just continue to worsen for some.
Secondly time. A commodity of which I have none. I don’t have the time to spend on my personal blog like I used to. I spend my days at work which is really busy, and then tending to a family and trying to line up side work here and there to try and stop the financial hemorrhaging. So for many their personal Blog falls to the wayside.
It’s funny, when I started Another Day of Life; I was really excited to get into blogging. I remember starting this site on Blogger, and being an avid reader of “Acquire Wisdom” and “The Total Spender“. One has not seen any posts in a year, and the other is gone completely. Then I stumbled on to “Blogging Away Debt“, a really great site, which too will probably be gone within 2009, or at least change from the really great blog that Tricia runs, as she retires her debt, and her participation in that blog.
Then I met other friends, like Dr. John, Melli, Quilly, Kat, Nancy, and a whole host of others. (If I didn’t mention you specifically please don’t take it personally). They have given me lots of motivation when I need it most.
As far as my situation, it’s still not “better”, and because of that I have spent more time trying to figure out how to deal with it than blogging about it.
So what is the future of Another Day of Life? Well if you come back next week, you won’t see a message like this one. But for now you may not always see a new post either. But if you want to keep up, I hope you will consider having my updated delivered via a reader, or via email. The when there is a new post, you will get to know first.
So the answer is, I am not sure yet. I am not walking away, just stepping away. Not saying good bye, but also not promising a daily post, or X number of posts each week. For now I need to lay the groundwork for Another Day of Life, my life, my family’s life and build tomorrow for all of us.
So I will be posting, just not as often for now. Though I hope that when I am back you will come back too, and that in the interim you will stop by from time to time, just to check in and see what new, or for a little bit of nostalgia. I will still be visiting your blogs, and am looking forward to it.
So until next time, be well.
~Another Day

I’m sorry to hear your struggles continue. I do know that prayer helps and I will keep you in my prayers. Your optimism and hard work are two traits that will also help. My husband and I struggled through the 83 recession with two small children, me teaching, and a furniture and appliance business that was going under, due to lower prices at Walmart, etc… We almost divorced over it, even separated for 6 months, finances are the number 1 cause of arguments and stress in a marriage leading to divorce. My husband started building houses, he had never done it before but thought that he could at least get remodeling and house additions. We got our clothes at Goodwill, ate a lot of leftovers, grocery shopped at Grocery Outlets, and my parents paid off our $8,000 of credit card debt. We did survive and our marriage is stronger because of it. Our kids learned some valuable lessons about money and we did too. We are still not wealthy but I was able to retire from teaching and my husband’s housing business is still thriving despite the economy. I do not take credit for any of this, God saw us through it all and our faith in Him continues to give us hope. Everything belongs to Him anyway and we are just better stewards now of what He has given us and that is a blessing indeed. May God bless you richly as you face the coming days.
It is hard to keep blogging when so much of the day is spent trying to keep your head above water, my own blog is also suffering. But I’m glad you’re not stepping away altogether. This economy will eventually turn and l look forward to seeing your victory posts.
I’ll keep checking in to see how things are going. Remember once you get to the top of the hill it’s all downhill from there.
Hi Family Man,
Sorry to see that you are on a hiatus, but I completely understand. Blogging is a huge time commitment.
Thank you for all of the comments and words of support you have left on my blog. I appreciate each one of them. That’s something I haven’t been able to do much of (comment on other blogs) due to lack of time. But I sure plan on doing it once I retire from my blog. I’ll keep an eye out for when you return
All the best, and thanks again…
Tricia

I’m still going strong! My story keeps a changing, so I keep writing about my debt journey. It keeps me accountable.
